Suddenly a great
company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and
saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his
favor rests.” (Lk 2:13-14)
“The Word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us,” (John 1:14)
“show us the Father and that will be enough,” “Anyone who has soon me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
In those days Caesar
Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the whole Roman
world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of
Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register. (Lk 2:1-3)
”But you, Bethlehem [a small town, like Buckley or
Enumclaw] though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will
come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of
old, from ancient times.” (Micah 5:2)
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to
Bethlehem the town of David. He went there to register with Mary, who
was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they
were there, the time came for the baby to be born ...” (Lk 2:4-7)
“Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their
stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his
anointed one … [but] the one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs
at them … [then he says] I have installed my king.” (Psalm 2:1-4)
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But
the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been
born to you; he is Christ, the Lord. This will be a sign to you – you will find a
baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:8-12)
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ
Jesus, who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a
cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place, and gave him the
name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory
of God the Father.” (Phil 2:5-11)
“It is more blessed to give than receive,” (Acts 20:35).
“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ, the Lord.”
(Lk 2:10-11)
And they said,
“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a
son, and they will call him ‘Immanuel’ which means ‘God with us’.” (Matt 1:23)
